Advisor of governments and companies. Researcher and University Professor.  ‘Zanasi & Partners’ and ‘Defence Research Institute” President.

 

Graduated in Nuclear Engineering (Bologna, thesis in Systems Theory), in Economics (Modena, thesis in Public Finance) and specialized in Probability Theory and Financial Engineering (Paris VI).

Fluent in English, French, Italian and Portuguese.

 

Before entering IBM, in late ‘80s, he was Carabinieri Officer charged of electronic intelligence at Rome Carabinieri Scientific Investigations Center, professional consultant for Italian courts and information broker.
 

Since his five-year internships at IBM's Scientific Centers in Paris and in San Jose (USA), he has consulted and taught extensively as a cyber intelligence specialist around the world.
 

In 2000 he co-founded Temis SA (Text mining SW developer, now an Expert.ai company) and in 2001, after leaving IBM where he was in charge of Market Intelligence for South Europe, he was META Group (now Gartner, Inc.) Program Director (Int’l), responsible of analysis in Business Intelligence and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) areas. In 2006 he founded “Zanasi & Partners” (Security Research & Advisory company, in Italy). In 2005 he was appointed Security Research Advisor of European Commission through ESRAB (European Security Research Advisory Board, which defined European Security Research Agenda) and, in 2007, through ESRIF (European Security Research and Innovation Forum, charged of developing partnerships between users and suppliers) membership. In 2019 he founded “Defence Research Institute” (in France)

 

He gave courses/conferences at several European and South American business schools; at Italian, French, Brazilian Army War Schools and Academies, at Carabinieri Arma Schools; at IBM and Telecom Italia Schools. Professor at several Universities and Masters in Intelligence and Security. Founder and coordinator of KDD Center, service center based in Cineca (Italian Government Supercomputing Centre) charged of applied intelligence research and solutions building. Frequent speaker or chairman at int’l conferences dedicated to security topics (e.g. since 2000 he has been chairing the int’l conference: Data Mining, Protection, Detection and other Security Technologies and was invited speaker in G8 Security Group in Palermo in November 2009). 

 

Editor of the series “Advances in Management Information Series”, WIT Press-UK, author or editor of several publications about knowledge management and intelligence topics (the reports “Mass Surveillance -Report to European Parliament”, 2015, “European security research and innovation in support of European security policies”, 2008, and “Meeting the challenge: the European Security Research Agenda”, 2006, printed by European Commission; the books “Data Mining, Protection, Detection and other Security Technologies” - 2009- and “Text Mining and its Applications to Intelligence, CRM and KM”–2007, WIT Press; “High Performance Computing”, 2002, WIT Press; "Discovering Data Mining"–1998, Prentice Hall;  “Competitive Technology Intelligence”–1999, John Wiley, are the most known) and received the ESOMAR CRM Conference “Best Paper Award” for his “Email, Chatlines, Newsgroups: a continuous opinion surveys source thanks to text mining utilization”. 

 

Member of Int’l Association of Police, of Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals, of Criminology Institute Scientific Committee of Paris II University in Paris.
